Our teaching
The aim of all our GCSE and A-Level camp is to complement and enhance students’ GCSE and A-Level French studies. The main focus is on helping students communicate confidently in French, reinforcing exam skills while encouraging them to take risks and actively engage. We show students that learning French is not only essential for exams but can also be fun and rewarding—something they may not fully realize when studying in a classroom back home. By creating an immersive, supportive environment, we help students develop a deeper appreciation for the language.
As a standard, all of our teachers have a FLE, ‘français langue étrangère’ qualification. This is a qualification awarded jointly by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Culture and Communication. FLE teaching encompasses the learning process of students learning French as their second language and aims to promote and guarantee high quality teaching for each student.
All of our teachers involved in our Summer Camps are native speakers of French, equipped with extensive experience in teaching children, from aged 5 through to 17.
From beginner to advanced
At Alpine French School, we welcome students of all French levels, from complete beginners to those preparing for GCSE and A-Level exams. Our experienced teachers tailor lessons to each student’s ability, ensuring focused support and progress. We organize students into groups based on age and French level, providing the best learning environment for all and ensuring that everyone receives the attention they need to succeed.
Interaction and engagement
French lessons at Alpine French School go beyond the classroom with dynamic, hands-on learning designed to enhance GCSE and A-Level preparation. Students take part in group projects, creative workshops, and real-world activities like podcast creation, while guest speakers bring the language to life. Interactive games and role-playing help reinforce exam skills and boost confidence.
‘Real life’ practice in Morzine
We bring language learning to life with real-world experiences that complement GCSE and A-Level preparation! Students put their French skills into practice during outings to local spots like the chocolate shop and pottery studio. These hands-on activities encourage natural conversation, helping students build confidence and deepen their understanding of French culture in a fun, interactive setting.
Exam preparation and revision
For students enrolled in our GCSE and A-Level French courses, we offer tailored support to boost their language skills. Our lessons focus on key exam areas such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing, providing targeted practice and expert guidance. Through interactive activities, real-life conversations, and exam-specific techniques, we help build confidence, improve fluency, and ensure success in their exams.

Hear from our families
Meet the Mansfield family
The Mansfield’s joined us at Summer Camp 2024. They have two children, aged 11 and 14 who were both enrolled in our Day Camp Adventure Plus programme. Here is what they have to say about their experience:
“My two children (11, 14) attended the Alpine French School for a week. They weren’t very pleased about being sent to school during the holidays. My younger one even decided she was going to get herself “expelled” on the first day! Once they actually started, they had a great time. They were in the right classes for their age and ability, the teachers were fun and they made friends quickly. The afternoon activities were excellent. Communication from the school was prompt and collaborative. I don’t hesitate to recommend.“
Meet the Leung family
The Leung’s joined us with their son and daughter, Matthew and Catherine. Having spent multiple weeks at camp, here is what they have to say about their experience:
“Both the children Matthew (doing ‘A’ level) and Catherine (GCSE) enjoyed their French lessons, even after a day skiing! Their tutor was lively, had them engaged in what they were doing and very helpful. She definitely has a talent for teaching..“
Ready to enroll?
To ensure every child has the best experience, we ask parents to fill in our enrollment form for each of their children. This helps us organise classes and best prepare for our GCSE and A-level French courses!
