If you are trying to decide whether to book a trip to the Alps this winter, then we would say definitely go for it! Winter 2017-8 has seen more snow in the French Alps than in many previous winters and has dispelled myths of there being no more snow in the French Alps! Winter started early with considerable snowfall in November and it has snowed most weeks since then, meaning that skiing conditions are great.
Looking at the forecast for the first half of February, this trend is set to continue with more snow coming our way in the next 2 weeks to top up the snow in the town and on the slopes. In fact, as I sit writing this article, large snowflakes are falling outside the window making Morzine look like a pretty winter wonderland.
Up on the mountain, the pistes already have a great covering of snow and these snowfalls will nicely top up this snow levels and give a dusting (or mountain) of powder for skiiers to enjoy! The other advantage to the great winter we are experiencing is that the resorts are all 100% open meaning that in the busy school holiday period, skiers will be more spread out as all of the pistes in all of the resorts will be open.
With Snow Forecast announcing over 30cm of snowfall in the next 5 days and more in the following week, what a great start to February!
If you are interested in combining a holiday to enjoy all of this wonderful snow with improving your French or preparing your children for their French GCSE or French A-level with a targeted preparation course, then take a look at our website to look at our Adult French Intensive Courses or our French GCSE Courses
