A day in the life on our French Intensive Course in the wonderful Alpine Winter
Maybe you are thinking of taking a French course this winter but you aren’t sure what life is like in the Alps during the winter? Alpine winters are magical. Morzine transforms itself into a winter wonderland, with the snowy landscape glistening in the bright winter sun, stunning views of snowy mountain-tops and chalet nestled amongst the peaks.
If you come and study French in Morzine, you will wake up in the fresh mountain air, refreshed after a peaceful night’s sleep in the tranquil fresh mountain air. The day starts with breakfast: breakfast with other students, teachers, your host family or grab a croissant and a coffee on the way to the ski-lifts or into school!
After breakfast, head either up on to the slopes and spend the morning skiing or snowboarding and exploring the huge ski area of the Portes du Soleil or into school for the first half of your Intensive French Course! One of the largest ski areas in the world with 650km of beginner to advanced pistes, amazing off-piste, snowparks and half-pipes, there really is something for everyone and so much skiing that you certainly won’t get bored. Whether you take lessons, ski with a guide or with other students, you get plenty of time every day on the slopes before/after heading to Alpine French School for your French Intensive Course.
In the winter, you can choose from a 10 hour or a 20 hour French Intensive Course. Either 9h-11h or 16h-18h or both. Either way you have plenty of time to ski/snowboard every day too! Located in the heart of Morzine, Alpine French School is just minutes walk from the ski lifts and most of our accommodation.
Our great teaching team are really invested in our students’ progress. French lessons are fun and engaging and students learn through conversation. You will be asked to take a short evaluation before you arrive in Morzine and you will be placed in a group of students of a similar level. Students work on a mix of vocab, grammar, pronunciation, all through conversation to ensure they practice as much as possible and therefore make tangible progress during the time they spend with us. After your afternoon French Intensive course has finished, the evening and Morzine is yours to enjoy!
You might just want to have dinner and relax after your lessons; our students living with other students and teachers often all cook and eat together, others eat with their host families. But if you have any energy left, Morzine has plenty to do after the sun sets over the mountains! The ski schools regularly organise torch-lit descents which are magical to watch. Or if you want more action yourself, try night skiing, night sledging or snow-mobiling! Many bars offer great après-ski with live music and a fun atmosphere and they then stay open until late. You can also sample some of the local specialities such as fondue or tartiflette in one of Morzine’s many great restaurants. Then it’s time to bed for a peaceful night’s sleep to build up some energy for the next day!
