I don’t want to send my children to school in the summer? Is a French Summer Camp like school?

Children have a challenging time at school nowadays, they are pushed throughout the school year having to work hard in class, do homework and sometime extra tutoring. So when the holidays come around, they need a change and a break!

Some parents think that holidays are a time for relaxation, lie-ins, finding time to do all the things that we don’t have time to do during the school year. Maybe this is trying new sports, spending time with family or visiting new places and having time for new experiences!

However, some parents think that 6-10 weeks of school holidays in the summer is too long for just relaxation and that it is a perfect opportunity for their children to do something challenging and exciting which also broadens their horizons.

Our French Summer Camp falls into this latter category. There is much more to a French Summer Camp than just French classes. And even the French classes aren’t the same as the French classes that your children will do at school! Our teachers are all young and dynamic with a love of teaching the French language to children and teenagers and inspiring them to love the French language! They don’t do this by having the children keep their nose in a grammar book but by speaking, playing games, getting out and about doing challenges and diverse activities speaking to real French people. The idea is to cultivate a love of the language and learning it that is a skill that will never be forgotten!

After the morning lessons, children and teenagers all meet up for lunch with some French conversation and learning the basic mealtime language in French before heading off for a fun afternoon of activities. Most of our activities are sporting outdoor activities and all are conducted in French with children learning the French for ‘go on’, ‘you can do it’, ‘score!’, ‘goal!’ and other French sporting vocab! Safety briefings for more adventurous activities are given in several languages for safety reasons but the explanations throughout the rest of the activity and conversation are encouraged in French. Speaking French outside of the classroom is when it really falls into place and this is very important!

As well as learning French, children meet people from different cultures, learn to work and play in a team and have many valuable experiences that make French Summer Camp an unforgettable experience and one that many of them want to repeat!!
