Many teenagers and their parents choose our French Summer Camp because it is educational but also great fun! French lessons take place from 9h-12h30 Monday to Friday with a 30-minute break mid-morning. But what are the lessons like on our French Summer Camp and what do our students learn?
Our French lessons cater for all ages, from 6-17 years on our Day Camp and from 12-17 years on our Residential French Summer Camp. Students are split into groups with others of similar ages.
We have students of all levels attending our French Summer Camp, from beginners to bilinguals (or almost bilingual). We divide students into groups of similar levels so that they can work at a level of French which is in keeping with their ability.
We also offer exam preparation courses within our French Summer Camp for the following exams: GCSE, iGCSE, AS-level, A-level and IB. These classes take place at the same time as the other French classes, from 9h-12h30 but groups are made of students with similar exam objectives and students work on exam preparation techniques, learn tips on what the examiners are looking for as well as improving their level of French to the level that will be expected of them in the exam.
All of our teachers are French native speakers and experienced and qualified teachers. They specialise in making French Summer Camp lessons fun and dynamic; after all it is the school holidays so we don’t want our students to feel bored! Our teachers will get them using the language and communicating in French in ways that they don’t often get the opportunity to at school. Teachers involve their students in their choice of subjects for the week to ensure that they will be interested in the topics they will be talking about.
The classrooms at our Junior French Summer Camp Centre are large, bright and spacious with plenty of room for fun activities and projects. Students won’t spend all of their week sitting at a desk like they often do in school. However, just because our French Summer Camp includes French lessons, these don’t all necessarily take place in the classroom. We take our students out into the real France to put their French into practice and to try out their communication skills in real-life situations. This is the real advantage of being in France and gives the students a new perspective on why learning a language is important.
Our teachers personalise all of their teaching materials to the students they are teaching on any particular week. Students will receive handouts of course materials and may receive project work to take home or share out among the class.
