New for 2027: French Summer Camp Chamonix

How do the Option Plus activities work on French Summer Camp/School.

One of the great things about the programme for our French Summer Camp is the amazing activities that are on offer in the Morzine area! This is something that attracts juniors and their parents to our programme and something that many people quote as a great part of the course in their feedback!

However, it can be a little confusing with so many activities on offer to understand how the activities at the Alpine French School French Summer Camp work!

Standard Activity Programme

We have a ‘Standard’ activity programme, which itself includes some great activities. This programme changes every week depending on the participants at the French Summer Camp, the weather, any local events and activities on offer and activities that have been successful the previous weeks. You can see a sample programme here which gives you an idea of the type of activities we offer.

Option + Activities

In addition to our standard activity programme, we also decided to add supplementary activities to our French Summer Camp programme because there are so many great activities to do in Morzine and also we found that some juniors have one activity that they are passionate about that they would like to do several times a week.

If an Option + is chosen, then on 3 afternoons a week, part of the afternoon activity programme is replaced with the supplementary activity. This may take up the whole afternoon or only part of it depending on the activity chosen. Our activity leaders accompany juniors to their activities and when they return, they slot back into our standard activities. If a student wants to choose one Option + activity for his/her first week and a different one for the second week, this is fine. Equally if a students wants to do the same Option + activity for 2 or more weeks if there is an activity that they are especially passionate about, then this is also fine!

The Option + activities that we have on offer at our French Summer Camp are:

Adventure Activities

Activities on our Option + Adventure programme include a variety of mountain adventure activities which are selected by our Activity Leaders and our Mountain Guides. Activities include Climbing, Canyoning, Adventure Park, White-water rafting, mountain biking, summer sledging and more!

Mountain Biking

Morzine is a mecca for mountain bikers with some of the best mountain biking in Europe. We can arrange taster sessions or more advanced mountain biking sessions as a part of this Option + activity. Prices include liftpass, bike and equipment hire plus a mountain bike guide. Our advanced mountain biking comes at an additional supplement but equally if you bring your own bike (which must be suitable for the downhill trails), then the price is reduced.

Horse-riding

Morzine has a great horse-riding centre in the beautiful Parc des Dêreches area of Morzine. Suitable for all levels. If you are a beginner, you will be shown the basics of riding and caring for a horse. If you have done horse-riding before, then you will be able to explore some of the wonderful trails around Morzine accompanied by a guide.

Tennis

Morzine has a large tennis club with many courts and a club house. We can arrange private coaching with this Option + activity so that you can practice your skills and progress plus learn some French tennis terms!

One to one French or English classes

If there is an examination that your son or daughter is preparing for, then we can offer individual personalised tuition to complement the morning lessons provided as part of our French Summer Camp. We have teachers available who have experience in GCSE, A-level, IGCSE and IB tutoring, or you can simply take the opportunity to improve your language skills in a one-to-one setting.
