Family Camp FAQs for Summer 2023

Our ‘Family Camp’ is one of our most popular options for parents and children to study with us during the summer season, but it’s also the option that we get asked the most questions about! So we thought we’d put together a quick blog for the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ and make the booking process simpler for your summer holiday in France.

To simply explain Family Camp – this is when you book your children to take lessons at our Summer Camp from Monday – Friday 9am – 12.30 (with afternoon activities as an optional extra) and parents take lessons at our adult’s school from Monday – Friday from 9am – 12. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy your holiday, learn a new language (or improve the skills you already have) and embrace French culture.

So, let’s get started!

  1. Are adult and junior lessons at the same location?

ANSWER: No, our adult lessons are at our adult’s school: 934 Rte des Bois Venants, 74110 Morzine and our junior lessons take place at: 71 Route de la Manche, 74110 Morzine.  They’re located about a 10 minute walk apart and easily reachable from most central Morzine accommodations. Both schools have parking facilities.

  1. Do parents have time to drop children off before their own classes?

ANSWER: Yes, absolutely! We ask all parents to drop their children off on the first day of camp at 8:40, so we have plenty of time to get everyone registered and to their classrooms. This gives parents time to head to their own lessons at our adults school, a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive away. For the following days our staff will be at the school from 8:45am to welcome your children.

  1. Do we organise adult activities?

ANSWER: We don’t organise adult activities, however, we are more than happy to recommend companies to book activities with, such as the brilliant Frogs Rafting (https://www.frogsrafting.com/fr/). We also provide a weekly schedule from the Bureau des Guides (https://www.guides-morzine.com/activites-ete/) who organise guided hikes in the area with local experts. Don’t hesitate to ask a member of our team, they’ll be happy to help!

  1. Do you provide lunch and accommodation for families?

ANSWER: We don’t provide lunch with any of our camp options, children bring a packed lunch to the camp if they are staying for the full day. However, we can definitely help to organise accommodation for families. We have 2 apartments above our adult school – one private 2 bedroom apartment and one shared 4 bedroom apartment https://alpinefrenchschool.com/accommodation/. Be quick to book though as they fill up quickly! There are many accommodation options in Morzine as it is a resort town, so you’ll definitely find something that fits your family’s needs.

  1. Can I take my child out of camp for one day or one afternoon?

ANSWER: Our camps are sold as a weekly ‘package’ from Monday – Friday, so your booking is for the full week. We really do prefer for safety and continuity that children stay at the camp with us when they’re meant to be there, but if you’d like to take your child out of camp for an afternoon please let us know as far as possible in advance so our team can be aware of this.

We hope this has been helpful and if you have any other questions don’t hesitate to contact our team who are happy to help. We can’t wait to see your family here in Morzine this Summer, à bientôt!
