Training Budgets Explained!

Professional Training is an important part of Government Policy in France.   French people have the right to access professional training throughout their working life in France, whatever their profession or status. However the world of training budgets can be hard to understand…..so read on….

Business Owners

If you are business owner, then you are entitled to an annual training budget of up to 1500-2000€. There are 3 main training budget organisations that manage this type of training budget and the criteria can vary somewhat. All business owners are expected to advance the money for their training budget, but they receive a 100% refund from their training budget organisation. For us to look into your budget entitlement, we need your SIRET number and your ‘Attestation de Versement de Contribution au FAF’.

Auto-entrepreneurs

Considered the same as business owners, auto-entrepreneurs are also entitled to up to 1500-2000€. Some additional documents are sometimes required, however the training budgets work in the same way as for business owners.

Employees: CPF

All people employed on a French contract are eligible for 2 types of training budget. The first is the CPF and this is your own personal training budget. You choose what you would like to use it for and you don’t need the agreement of your employer although you may need to give their name. This training budget replaced the DIF and you accumulate a certain numbers of hours for every year or part-year you work on a French contract (seasonal or year-round). For all employee training budgets, the training budget organisation pays Alpine French School directly so you or your employer don’t need to advance any money.

Employees: Plan de Formation

Employees employed on French contracts are also potentially eligible for a training budget through their employer. This training budget is at the discretion of the employer and it is to allow them to improve their staff’s skills. To use this budget, your employer must agree if it wasn’t their idea in the first place. Again for this employee budget, the training budget organisation pays Alpine French School directly so you or your employer don’t need to advance any money.

Information common to all types of Training Budgets

Whichever training course you choose to spend your budget on, it must be related to your business and it must be run by an accredited Training Provider. All training budgets must be applied for in advance, with the application being sent off at least a month before the start of your course.   This means that ideally you would contact us 2 months before the start of the course you would like to do, in order for us to gather the documents needed and prepare your application.
