Top 5 French Learning Resources

Top 5 French Learning Resources:

You will agree that learning a foreign language is far from being an easy task! You find yourself motivated to make real efforts to learn and work on your French and for that, the first step you need to make is to find resources appropriate to your level, your needs, your learning style…

As a teacher, one of the most common questions asked by students (among the hundred others!) is: what books, methods, websites, would you recommend for me to work on my own and to help me learn French?

Well, it sounds simple but it’s so not, is it? Otherwise people wouldn’t ask! But why?? Because the world of resources is just huge!! So at Alpine French School, we thought that we might just help you find your way through that jungle with a few tips to help you learn French

Top 5 Learning Resources = The 5 ‘A’

  • A useful dictionary : and that does NOT include Google Translate! :) *
  • A French verb table book : as you know French verbs can easily give you a terrible headache so please do yourself a favor and use one of these! :) **
  • ‘A’ star Websites and Apps : practice, practice, practice till you drop! :) ***
  • Audio : because listening to French equals ‘real effortless effective progress’, yeah! (though sometimes a little bit… painful) :) ****
  • Amazing E-learning Software packages : good news as you can be an independent learner and not be a loner! :) *****

Now, next time you take a French course, you’ll be fully prepared to impress your teacher and peers.

= Collins Dictionaries and ‘Reverso’ online (just brilliant, as a teacher I only use those and like the way they respect language levels and idioms. You will definitely enrich your vocabulary very quickly and they most of the time offer the audio pronunciation.

**

= Again Collins. French table books for French are not recommended as they are set in a non practical grammatical way meaning arranged by verb groups (which you probably don’t know of) instead of simple alphabetical order for example.
