Summer in Morzine

We get many students or potential students asking what Morzine is like in the summer. A good testimonial to how great it is is that many of the expats who live in the area came for the skiing or snowboarding but end up loving the summer even more than the winter! So why is Morzine so great in the summer…..?

The weather

Most people associate ski resorts with snow and cold, but summer in the Alps is the complete opposite! Bright blue skies and warm temperatures mean that Morzine is a great place to enjoy the summer sun.

Activities

Morzine hosts a wealth of outdoor activities in the summer. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you will find plenty to keep you entertained. The Portes du Soleil ski area opens over 20 of its ski-lifts in the summer and these are transformed to carry mountain bikers and hikers enabling you to enjoy the high mountain pastures and incredible views.

Mountain bikers come to Morzine as it is the European mecca of mountain biking. Downhill mountain bikers can enjoy the steep, technical descents after taking a ski-lift up; maximum enjoyment and minimum pedalling!

If you are into freeriding, there are purpose built freeride, north shore and dirt jump areas with plenty of rooty dropoffs, jumps and rock drops to be discovered off the beaten track.

Cross-country mountain bikers can explore many kilometres of trails including forest sections, tech rocky switch-backs, fast flowing singletrack, exposed high Alpine routes, though to gentle cross country journeys in stunning Alpine valleys.
