Our Summer Camp Director: Olivier

Olivier Brun is the group leader looking after all the children who take part in the afternoon activities on our Teenage Summer Camps.

Olivier has endless energy and has been working hard all summer to ensure the children have a great time by coming up with endless fun activities for them. Examples include: a mini Olympics games, an art competition, visiting a flea market and face painting. Olivier also takes the students to do the local summer time activities of Morzine. They have been canyoning, hiking, swimming, played tennis, gone accrobranching (adventure tree climbing) and been on various excursions to local towns like Evian and to Lake Montriond. Plus much, much more.

We wanted to find out a bit more about how Olivier came to be a group leader and why he does it.

How long have you been an ‘animateur’ (group leader)?

I’ve been an animateur for 15 years.

Where did you work before?

I’ve worked for lots of different companies but the longest was Club Med, where I spent 7 years.

Why do you like you’re job?

It’s never the same thing, there’s so much variety in the activities. I also really enjoy seeing the children I look after having fun together.

What’s the best part about your job?

The best part is that all the children are so different and I get to have a laugh with all of them and get to meet and know children from different areas of France and different countries.

Is there anything that you don’t like?

Only when the children aren’t happy because they are ill or have a problem at home, something like that. I do my best to help them and cheer them up.

Have you enjoyed working with Alpine French School to run the Teenage Summer Camps this summer?

Yes, I’ve really enjoyed having a new challenge and watching a new project and idea come to life.

Do you think it’s important for children to learn another language?

Yes, learning a new language is very important for their future. For work, for travel and for life in general.

Where did you learn to speak English?

I learnt English first at school, then over the years I’ve practiced a lot with people I’ve met in my work.

What’s your favourite place in Morzine?

I like the Dereches park near the river and going to the swimming pool. It’s a really nice area with loads of different sporting activities. It’s where you will find the ice rink, the tennis courts, the pool, the skate park and so on. It’s also a beautiful nature area with the river and woods around the park area.

What’s your favourite summer activity in Morzine?

I love sport, so any of the summer sports, like tennis, canyoning and swimming are great!
