MORZINE WINTERSTART FESTIVAL

 

MORZINE LAUNCHES THE FIRST WINTER START FESTIVAL

Morzine launches a new festive and promotional event. On the 5th & 6th December, all the necessary goods for winter preparation will be presented in one place (homeware, personal goods, decoration, and everything for the end-of-year celebrations…)

This fair, created by the Morzine Commerce Association, will take place throughout the village:

  • Entertainment centre on the Tourist Office Square
  • Christmas Market on Place de la Mairie
  • Exhibitors on Rue du Bourg, which will be closed to traffic
  • Opening of all Morzine Shops

Exhibitors and retailers will display their skills, creations and present the latest trends for the 2015/2016 Winter season:

  • Snow removal gear exhibition, including France’s largest snowplough
  • Artificial snow production
  • Presentation of the latest Skoda, Renault, Ford and Suzuki’s models and 4 wheel-drives
  • Information on safety in the mountain and avalanche rescue demonstration with transceiver
  • Ski maintenance workshop
  • Home decorations
  • Christmas decorations
  • Fashion show (sportswear, skiwear and underwear) performed by 8 professional models
  • Presentation of the latest range of skis for Winter 2015/2016 with brands including Head, Lacroix, Movement, Rossignol, Dynastar, Atomic, Salomon, Fisher…
  • Handycraft at the Christmas Market
  • Roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and other treats…

For the event, the Pléney Cablecar will exceptionally be open to pedestrians, and, if snow conditions allow it, the B run and the Stade will also be open for your first ski run of the season!

 

A WEEKEND OF ENTERTAINMENT

Friday 4th December

  • Téléthon (Country-wide charity fundraising event) with as main event the 24 hours immersion of a diver in altitude and in a pool at the leisure centre.

Saturday 5th December

  • 10am Opening of the fair and Christmas Market
  • 4:30pm Broomball match on the outdoor ice rink / Tourist Office Square
  • 5:30pm 2016 Mountain Euro Cup / Tourist Office Square
  • Presentation of participating countries and teams
  • 2016 Mountain Euro Cup Random Draw
  • 6pm Inauguration of the fair and official start of the season / Tourist Office Square
  • 6:30pm 2015/16 Winter Fashion show (skiwear, sportswear et underwear) / Tourist Office Square
  • 8:30pm Magnus League Ice-Hockey Match HCMAG vs Bordeaux / Skoda Arena
  • Morzine Winter Night Party in the resort’s bars and clubs

Sunday 6th December

11:30am            Winter season Blessing by the Parish Priest / Church (to be confirmed)

12pm                Brassband “Edelweiss” Concert (timing to be confirmed)

4pm                  Christmas Carols with Anne PACCARD accompanied by Ars Sonora Chimes / Tourist Office Square

In order to animate and promote this great event, Radio Plus will be performing a live show on Friday the 4th between 5pm and 7pm at the Palais des Sports : interviews, info, music and prize competition…
