Get to Know The Alpine French School Team: Christelle

Where were you born and where did you spend your childhood?

I was born in Yvetot in Normandy, in Seine-Maritime exactly. I lived in a little country town and then moved to a big city, Rouen, when I was 14. Perfect age to move to city life!

What made you move to Morzine?

A dear friend needed help during the winter season, so I came and it was love at first sight with the mountains and I never left!

What are your hobbies?

I have 3 pets who love to be entertained! I love free dance practice and hold sessions when I have time. I do enjoy some sporting activities like hiking, running, yoga, swimming; a bit of what takes my fancy!

When and why did you start teaching?

I started teaching in 2000 in high schools in England because that’s what I always wanted to do. It’s a thrill for me!

What is your favourite restaurant in Morzine?

L’étale/ La Chaudanne/ and snacky food at the Bec Jaune

What is your favourite thing to do in the winter?

Long lunches on the slopes with my friends. Walking and playing with my dog in the snow, I’m not a ski addict!

What is your favourite thing to do in the summer?

Sun bathing at the Lac Léman and the long evenings out.

Where is the best place you’ve ever been on holiday?

Hawaï!! Just amazing!

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

The challenge! Each student, each group is different so you need to find the best path to take them where they need to go.

What is your favourite French TV programme?

Le Grand Journal et Le Petit Journal (Canal+) and most of Arte.

What is your most valuable piece of advice for students learning French?

Speak slowly, take your time to think and rephrase if needed even in real life situation!
