French Summer Camp Excursions

One of the reasons for enrolling your child in a French Summer Camp is so that they experience the real France. So the first consideration is the town that the Summer Camp is based in and the second is how much of the surrounding area will your child get to see during his time at his/her French Summer Camp?

Alpine French School’s French Summer Camp is based in the beautiful Alpine town of Morzine. A vibrant, safe mountain village that has grown into a small town, it makes the perfect setting for a Summer Camp. Morzine used to be a farming community until the arrival of skiers and ski-lifts in the 1950s. From then on, tourism became an increasing part of the economy, but Morzine kept its character as a true mountain village and not just a ski-resort. Strict planning regulations have meant that Morzine has kept its charm and all of the buildings are chalet-like in style.

The town boasts a great indoor-outdoor aquatic centre, a new skatepark, tennis courts, an equestrian centre, football pitches, basketball courts, an ice-rink, summer sledging, summer chairlifts for mountain biking and hiking and much more. There is a good selection of shops and restaurants and the tourist office works hard to arrange events and concerts throughout the summer. This summer, Morzine will host the Tour de France and the Etape du Tour in addition to its regular events programme which is already impressive!

Families and children are the heart of Morzine and they even have a week in the summer dedicated to this called ‘Morzine aime les enfants’.

Students on our French Summer Camp not only explore Morzine and the surrounding mountain lakes and villages during the Monday to Friday activity programme, but they also enjoy French Summer Camp excursions at the weekend. We organise French Summer Camp excursions where students get to visit a local town or place of interest where they take part in cultural activities, treasure hunts, town-trails or other tailor-made activities. They also get the chance to swim in the lake or go to the beach to enjoy the best of the summer weather too. Some examples….

Evian-les-Bains: home to Evian water, on the banks of Lake Geneva, Evian is a charming town with lovely little boutiques, beautiful buildings and a great beach.

Yvoire: one of the oldest medieval towns in France, a pretty, walled town with cool souvenir shops, crêperies and even an ice-cream shop selling 300 different flavours of ice-cream. Also with a beach for swimming in the crystal clear lake water

Plage de la Beunaz: an activity beach and lake between Morzine and Evian with zipwires, tee-pees, swimming, pedalos, kayaks and much more!
