Châtel
Châtel is a charming mountain village located at 75km from Geneva in the French Alps near to the Swiss border. It is a part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area which includes Morzine and Avoriaz. The village has maintained its mountain charm thanks to strict planning regulations so the buildings are all built in chalet-style. The town offers many lively bars, mountain and town-centre restaurants, 2 cinemas, many shops and an ice-rink.
Samoëns
At less then an hour from Geneva, Samoëns itself is one of the most beautiful ski resorts you could ever visit. Dating back to the 13th Century, it was once a thriving stone cutting centre and it still retains many features from this era. The village has a botanical garden, gothic church, medieval squares, timber-fronted patisseries and picture-box houses making it one of the prettiest of the Alpine resorts. It carries the designation of a “ville fleurie” distinguishing it as one of the prettiest villages in France and is, in fact, the only ski resort in France to be listed as a historical and artistic monument.
