Annecy is just over an hour from Morzine. A picturesque traditional French town with an old town, Annecy sits on the banks of a stunning turquoise lake. Wander around the narrow streets of the town, grab lunch on the banks of the canal in the old town, choose from hundreds of flavours of ice-cream, enjoy a picnic in the sun or grab a pedalo or drive around the banks of the lake to one of the many beaches and enjoy a dip in the turquoise waters!
An international city on the banks of Lake Geneva or Lac Léman, Geneva is a cosmopolitan city which is a great place for a day trip. Wander around the chic boutiques, along the lakeside, take a water taxi, visit the United Nations, the Botanical Gardens or one of its galleries or museums. In early August, the lakeside festival is a great time to visit the centre in its full party atmosphere.
One of the oldest medieval towns in France, this walled village on the banks of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) is characterised by its winding streets lined with creperies, restaurants, cafés, ice-cream shops and lovely boutiques. You can also take a boat on the lake, wander down to the port and enjoy the local speciality of filets de perche.
Home to the Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain, Chamonix is a stunning mountain town for a day trip. Take a trip up the Aiguille de Midi cable-car for close-up views of Mont Blanc, take the train up the Mer de Glace, go for a hike, visit the boutiques and mountain equipment shops.
Home to the famous Evian water and on the banks of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), Evian is a traditional French town with a beautiful lakeside location. Take a wander along the lakefront promenade, visit the water factory, visit the lakeside beaches and you can even try some watersports, or simply sit in a pavement café and enjoy a coffee in the sun.
