What is the best restaurant in Morzine? What is your favourite restaurant in Morzine? What restaurant would you recommend in Morzine? These are very common questions from tourists and out students learning French in Morzine so we decided to write a blog about it.
Morzine has changed a lot in the last 10 years since Alpine French School opened and there is now a large selection of restaurants catering for all tastes and most budgets! From pizza cabins to high class restaurants, wine bars where you can grab a snack with a glass of wine to coffee shops, Morzine has something for everyone.
Traditional Restaurants
L’Etale: a bustling brasserie style restaurant with a large menu and a fun atmosphere, l’Etale is run by a local ‘Morzinoise’ Vincent Baud. Good portion sizes, local specialities, pizzas, vegetarian options. Open during the summer and winter seasons non-stop all-day long.
La Rotonde: the ‘grown-up sister’ of L’Etale run by the same team but with a more sophisticated menu and décor. Lovely garden and terrace for the summer months. La Rotonde is open most of the year, even in quiet seasons.
Le Clin d’Oeil: hidden away near Carrefour in the lower part of Morzine, le Clin d’Oeil (which means ‘wink’) is run by Kristel and her husband who are originally from the south-west of France. Their menu combines local specialities from the Savoie region like fondue & tartiflette with south-west dishes such as Cassoulet. Open all year-round.
La Chaudanne: a newly renovated old favourite run by Thierry and his wife. A great setting in a traditional chalet-style building with a wine bar in the basement and a lovely terrace for sunny days. A mix of local specialities and French cuisine, everything is always cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. A real treat.
La Fruitière: a traditional restaurant serving all the local specialities involving cheese! Run in partnership with the cheese-makers also on the same road, this restaurant was recently built in the style of a traditional mountain chalet to offer a true savoyard experience.
L’Atelier: a high-class restaurant located in the Hotel Samoyède opposite the tourist office. If you are looking for a high quality restaurant for a special occasion, then the Atelier is well worth a visit. A tasting menu is available to sample a selection of their delicious dishes.
Hôtel Philibert: a high-class restaurant run by a top chef located in the Hôtel Philibert situated 5 minutes walk from Morzine centre. The hotel itself is run by Serge who prides himself on serving top quality food in a luxurious environment.
Le Vent des Anges: a restaurant run by a young French couple who bring a personal touch and an attention to detail that can lack in larger restaurants. Hidden away near the Mairie in the lower part of the town centre, this restaurant offers a small but varied menu with some local specialities combined with more traditional French cuisine.
Mammas: a take-away serving noodles, fish and chips….perfect if you just want to grab a quick bite to eat.
Coffee Shops
Dotty’s: a coffee shop located on Rue du Bourg serving a large selection of coffees along with cakes, snacks and lunches.

Le Coup de Coeur: a popular wine bar right in the centre of Morzine that is always busy, serving good wine, bar snacks and pizzas. Often the only problem can be finding a table!
