Children with English-speaking parents who are educated in France often lack the breadth and depth of English language compared to their peers studying in English. They are obviously competent in everyday English and home language but because they don’t study in English, their exposure to the English language is less than if they were studying in the UK. This is especially true of their written English and reading skills. They obviously learn to write and structure papers and essays in French at school and although these skills are somewhat transferable, the specific language is sometimes lacking in expat children.
Alpine French School is offering a new type of course for expat Anglophone children schooled in French in France. We are organising English IGCSE preparation courses to prepare your child to take their English IGCSE. Courses will be run by a teacher who used to teach English in UK secondary schools and has experience of English GCSE teaching.
The English IGCSE is also available (a slightly different exam) or children for whom English is a second language. Please contact us for more information.
