Summer is drawing to a close, schools are restarting their academic years and the days are getting noticeably shorter. Our French Summer Camp has also drawn to a close with our last students leaving last weekend. Our staff finished up the season, saying goodbye to the last campers, tying up loose ends, tidying and cleaning our junior centre before heading off for new adventures or returning to studies.
So what were the highlights of the summer?
Our French Summer Camp enjoyed a successful summer in 2016. The weather was kind, we had very few days of rain and many beautiful sunny days with clear blue skies over the Alpine mountains. This meant that our outdoor activity programme was able to go ahead as planned for most of the summer. Our activity programme included a range of cultural and sporting activities. The highlights for our campers in terms of sporting activities were the summer luge, the adventure park, local swimming lakes, watersports centres, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canyoning, climbing, mountain biking, horse-riding and tennis. Cultural activities included making bread, visits to the trout farm and fishing, market visits, visits to the medieval village of Yvoire plus various activities to meet the local population in Morzine.
Our French Summer Camp lessons were run by a great team of dynamic teachers who really care about their young students. They spent a lot of time preparing great fun lessons that are nothing like the lessons that campers have in school when they are learning French! With games, outings, activities, songs, theatre activities and much more, our teaching team take inspiration from one another to provide great lessons for our campers. Students have asked to come back week after week this summer and we have had many bookings that have been extended which is a true reflection on the hard work from all of the team.
And of course behind the scenes, Serge & Laure who run the catering side of our Junior Centre have worked very hard all summer to make sure that our campers are well fed and that picnics are provided for all off-site activities. Our reservations and coordination team have done a great job in supervising the French Summer Camp and ensuring that everyone is happy and if not, being on hand to address any problems as soon as they arise so that we can remedy any small issues and make sure that everyone who attends our French Summer Camp has a great experience!
