Student Safety at Alpine French School’s French Summer Camp

One of parent’s main concerns when booking our French Summer Camp is that their children are going to be safe and well looked after. This is a completely natural concern and something we spend a lot of time worrying about ourselves!

Our Staff

In France, Summer Camps are highly regulated and staff must be qualified in order to work at our French Summer Camp. Our activity leaders all hold the BAFA qualification which teaches them to look after juniors including their health and safety. Our French language teachers are all qualified and experienced in teaching children and love doing this as their job! We also carry out background checks on all of our staff who will be working with children, including teachers, activity leaders and admin staff. Alpine French School itself has to have the necessary checks to run a Summer Camp and we are happy to answer any questions parents may have concerning the safety of their children.

Our Activities

In the organisation of our activities, the health and safety of the children is taken into consideration and any potential problems are considered in advance. Any outside activities that we use are run by suppliers who are accredited and fully checked by the French government in terms of health and safety and competence to work with junior groups. Local activity organisers and even the Morzine aquatic centre all have special rules for groups with the safety and enjoyment of everyone involved in mind!

Summer Camp Organisation

When parents book their children onto our French Summer Camp, we ask them to complete an application form which includes full medical and dietary records that parents complete prior to children’s arrival. These records are kept onsite at our Junior Centre and anything significant is flagged so that everyone who will come into contact with the children.

Regardless of everything we do, children will still fall ill and minor accidents will still happen. The town’s medical centre is conveniently located next to our Summer Camp, so any illnesses or accidents can be quickly treated by their team of health professionals. Our Camp Director and Activity Leaders live on site so they are on hand to deal with any emergencies as soon as they arise.
