Being based in the mountains, going to Paris can seem like a big adventure from Morzine. We sometimes like to go to enjoy a bit of culture, to visit the sights, see friends or for big sporting events.
From Morzine, the easiest way to get to Paris is by train. You can get a train from Thonon-les-Bains which is just 30 minutes from Morzine, or hop on a transfer to Geneva airport and jump on the train there. Either way, the train takes just 3 hours to get to Paris! If you reserve in advance and avoid peak times, you can get cheap tickets and the trains are comfortable, modern and fast. Once you arrive in Paris, you can jump on a metro or bus or take a stroll along the Seine. It is quick and easy to find your way around and Paris isn’t a large city.
Must-sees include:
Le Tour Eiffel
Montmartre and le Sacré Coeur
Le Louvre
Le Notre-Dame
Le Champs-Elysées
L’Arc de Triomphe

Taking a stroll through the city gardens, along the Parisian boulevards, sitting passing time in a pavement café, enjoying some culture. Some things you can’t beat Paris for. If you are a culture vulture and want to visit museums, art galleries, go to the theatre or see an opera, then you will be in your element in Paris. If you adore beautiful architecture, then you will be spoilt for choice among the cathedrals, monuments, traditional buildings and Parisian landmarks. If you want do a spot of shopping in the designer boutiques or try and find a bargain in the many street markets, then Paris is paradise.
However, after a day or two in Paris, it is always nice to return to the fresh mountain air and get away from the crowds and pollution! Living in the mountains, we have to admit that a few days in the big smoke is enough for us and we are always happy to get back to our beautiful scenery, clear blue skies, traffic-free roads, walking and biking trails or skiing pistes! For outdoor lovers, Morzine might as well be the capital of France and Paris is always there if we fancy a day trip or a weekend away!
