About Chamonix

Home to the Mont Blanc and a mecca for extreme sports enthusiasts and tourists from around the world, Chamonix is a bustling mountain town extending throughout the Mont Blanc valley.  Since hosting the first winter Olympic games in 1924, the area has attracted visitors from around the world.

The Chamonix valley includes the towns of Chamonix, Servoz, Les Houches, Les Praz, Argentière, Vallorcine and Les Bossons.

Chamonix is easily accessible by road, rail or air.  Geneva airport is less than 90 minutes’ drive from Chamonix.  You can hire a car or book an airport transfer to get from the airport to Chamonix.  Once you are in Chamonix, there is a good public transport network of trains and buses to get around the valley.

Chamonix offers great shopping, from mountain sports shops to Chanel, there is something for everyone! Wander around the bustling streets of the town centre and explore the independent boutiques or visit the big names such as North Face and Patagonia.

There are also many great bars and restaurants in Chamonix.  From traditional mountain food to traditional French bistros to asian fusion restaurants, après bars, a Folie Douce, you will be spoilt for choice!

The area surrounding Chamonix is also well worth a visit.  Italy is easily accessible with the village of Aosta only 40km away.  You can also venture into the surrounding valleys and visit Geneva and it’s stunning lake or the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy.
