How to travel to Morzine?

So you’re interested in coming to Morzine to study French, but you’re not really sure how to travel?  Well the good news is that Morzine is easy to reach by air, car or train.

Flights

If you want to travel by air, then the best airport to fly into is Geneva.  Morzine is only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Geneva airport.  You can also fly to Lyon, Annecy or other smaller neighbouring airports but it is harder to get from the airport to Morzine.  There are many airlines that fly to Geneva and you can check itineraries and who flies your route on Skyscanner.  Many budget airlines such as Easyjet offer a wide range of European routes in addition to the more traditional airlines.  It is worth shopping around to see who offers the best price for your route.

Getting from the airport to Morzine

Once you arrive at Geneva airport, you need to get from Geneva to Morzine.  Alpine French School can arrange transfers for you, or you can take a local bus.  Transfers are usually the cheapest and quickest way to get from the airport to your accommodation as the transfer will drop you at your door, so you don’t have to struggle with your bags from the bus station!  Airport transfers usually take about 1h30 from Geneva.

Train

Another option is to travel by rail.  You can get the train into Geneva and we can arrange the transfers up to Morzine.  Another option is to take the train to Thonon-les-Bains and then get a local bus or a taxi up to Morzine.

Self-drive

If you choose to bring your own car, then Morzine is not too far from the French motorway network.  You can take the A40 motorway to Cluses and Morzine is just a 30-minute drive on local roads.

How to get around once you get to Morzine?

Once you are in Morzine, there are several options for getting around.  Most people walk a lot as Morzine is fairly small, and also very beautiful!  There are also local shuttle buses, some free, some charging a small fee plus a little tourist train!
