Alpine French School’s French Summer Camp: What’s on the Programme for this week?

At our French Summer Camp, we like to keep our programme varied. We have students that stay for several weeks in Morzine and there are many local activities that vary from week to week.

All of the students on our French Summer Camp participate in French lessons in the mornings from 9h-12h30 with a 30-minute break. These lessons are designed to be a complement to the French they learn at school and the main aim is to get students understanding why it is good fun and useful to learn a language and also to improve their spoken French which is often neglected at school! We find that students leave the French Summer Camp more motivated to continue their French studies and to try harder at school in the future.

At lunchtime, students eat together in the dining room with our activity leaders before starting their activity programme. This week on the programme:

Monday: Olympic Games, with those having chosen our Option Plus Adventure taking part in ‘Accrobranche’ or treetop adventure and chose having chosen our Option Plus Horse-riding having a horse-riding session also.

Tuesday: students have a choice of activities between a French version of baseball/rounders, card games or body painting. Option Plus Adventure students will head off for canyoning!

Thursday: students will head off on a hike to different places around Morzine depending on their age to see some wildlife and great views! Students having chosen the Option Plus Adventure will head off for a great afternoon of climbing with a local French guide.

Wednesday: all students will head to Morzine’s great aquatic centre for a fun-filled afternoon of games and swimming. With indoor and outdoor pools, beach volleyball, bouncy castles and waterslides surrounded by lawns and sunbathing areas, this complex is a great place for a fun afternoon!

Friday: Large relay games on our sports pitch followed by collage-making with items collected during Thursday’s hike.

Saturday: students staying the weekend will head off on an excursion to the thermal springs at Thonon or Evian Les Bains, followed by a trip to Lake Geneva and swimming at a local beach.

Sunday: students will take part in a mountain activity and will head off into the mountains with a picnic for an action packed day of adventure! In the afternoon, new students will start to arrive so the evening will be spent getting to know the new faces who are joining us.
